What is in the sky above you tonight?

Above Tonight is a free, interactive map of the sky above you. On your phone, switch on Motion and move the phone around: the map follows it, so you see the planets, stars and constellations wherever you point. It starts at a city in your time zone when it has one, and you can choose any place, date and time.

• Look On a phone, switch on Motion and hold it up to the sky. On a computer, drag to look around and scroll or pinch to zoom.
• Find Search for a planet, star or constellation, the Sun or the Moon, and the view turns to it. Select anything to see its direction and height.
• Share Send the link. It opens the same sky, paused at the same moment.

Motion asks for your phone's permission on some browsers, and a phone compass is not always exact. The map shows where things are, not whether clouds, city light or buildings hide them; it draws objects below the horizon too, marked as hidden by the Earth. It cannot identify an object from a photo.
